it’s a job i’ve been considering given the pay is said to be good, it doesn’t seem too stressful (no targets, etc) and it seems (at least vaguely) relavent to my degree…

i’d like some more info about the job itself, how to start out…i know there are official exams to be taken but is it usual to get companies to sponsor you through these exams/employ you whilst you do them…? what could i expect as a starting salary? am i right in saying it’s not very stressful?

i’m 23, will have a degree in statistics in about 18 months, i’m fluent in spanish and have the following work experience: 2 years as a marketing assistant, one year as a duty manager of a bookkeepers, one year as a bank cashier and 2 years working on the customer service desk at a supermarket…so lacking in accountancy…is it is learnable right?

all info would be very much appreciated!

chk site below should give u definite answers

What is the key question that a tax accountant professional will ask me?
Must I be an "itemizer" on my taxes?
Will I get a dollar for dollar return or ?
Just saying it’s tax deductible isn’t enough for me to give up my cash…so what would the IRS be giving me back ? The serivce wants me to pay $700!!! sounds interesting to me.
What gives?
Thanks

If you are looking for a new job in your current occupation, or are looking for your first job, you can deduct amounts that are over 2% of your income for that year as an itemized deduction. If you don’t itemize, there is no tax savings. If you DO itemize, the savings isn’t dollar for dollar – it’s the amount over your standard deduction times your tax bracket percent.

Im helping a friend start her new accounting business. We need a slogan that says what we do in 8 words or less.

In a nutshell it needs to convey the following…

You do what you do best…being creative, etc. in your business and WE will do what we do best, bookkeeping and accoiunting!

Looking to convey the messaeg that business owners dont have time or engergy to do this and even if they did, still wouldn’t have the expertise to take it to the next level to really expandthier business.

We are thinking about location – Orange County
and thinking about the services – bookkepping/accounting
and would possibly like to include those in a name.

So we are looking for both a slogan in less than 8 words and a business name. Any thoughts?

Possible Titles- "The Orange Books", "Orange Counting", " BirchStone Keeping", " The O.C. Keeping House", " GrandGrove Keeping"

slogans- "Where the experts take care of the experts" (8 words!)

" We’re here to help"

" You can count on us"

" New horizons for your business"

Thats all i got :) for now let me now if you like them

I am not aware of any specific accounting packages for the guard business but I’m sure they are out there.

I use Quickbooks Professional Services and this could easily be adapted for use in the guard business.

You may want to post your question to the Security Info Watch forums. http://forums.securityinfowatch.com/

Lots of private security company owners hang out there and I sure they could provide you some advice on accounting software.

Is it because it would put accountants and tax services out of private business.

10% wouldn’t collect enough revenue and even a 10% flat tax would be very regressive.

When Steve Forbes was running for President he proposed a 17% flat tax. Economists looked at the plan they said that, in order to keep revenue at the current level, a flat tax would have to be at lease 21%. A 21% tax would be awesome if you are paying 35% but it would put millions of poor people out in the street.

For example a single parent with 2 kids and $20k in income would get about $3300 more back than they had withheld. An effective tax rate of negative 16.5%. With even a 10% flat tax, they would be $5300 worse off and, with the 21% flat tax, they would be $7500 worse off!

A flat tax would wonderfull for the upper middle class and the rich but would be devastating to the working poor.

My husband has just opened a small business. He only has one employee right now, but I feel like in the next year or so he could have several employees. We want to make sure we’re doing everything correctly as far as taxes, etc…. I manage budgets, track expenses & profits, and file FSR reports with my current employer. I feel like I could keep his books organized, but I’m not sure about the rest. We are def. wanting someone to do our taxes. We are meeting with a CPA today to discuss our options. We don’t have a ton of $ so we would like to do as much ourselves as we can. I have looked into Quickbooks with the payroll option. Has anyone used this? How easy is the payroll option? Would I be able to do this vs. paying the CPA to do payroll. I’m just worried about deducting taxes from payroll and how/when to pay the taxes. Will the program tell me that? Anyone know of other services that might be helpful from the CPA that can save us $$? I am a smart woman and I know if someone shows me I can learn the system. However, I’m not sure a CPA would be willing to show me, as they would rather me just pay them. Can I do this myself or am I just getting over my head? What is feasible to do yourself?

Also, how does he pay himself? Does he set a salary like $30,000 a year or does he get a % of the profits? I read about the self-employment tax and you don’t want to pay yourself too much. How do you get around that and still bring in enough income?

Any other relevant info would be helpful. We need all the $ we can get as we are a young family w/ kids. I just feel like I’m walking blindly into this.

quickbooks is awesome and will do just what you need it too.. we are a small business with only 4 employees and i use quickbooks 2009 to do everything, payroll, payroll taxes,etc.. you will of coarse need a CPA to set it up and to show you how to do everything.. but after that, it’s easy..

as for his salary.. definitely take a weekly salary.. your CPA can advise on that.

you could also look into taking a quickbooks class…

i’m in florida and if you were local i would definitely help you out…
